Inspect Ground Tackle

• Pull all chain and rode from the anchor locker. Hose off. Inspect for deterioration.
• Any shackles or swivels involved should be closely examined.
• Ensure pins are attached with stainless wire or nylon cable ties. Replace safety ties each year.
• Use a low-pressure hose to rinse lines, high-pressure can force dirt into the lines.
• Compare fiber lines to new rope by untwisting - buried strands should appear new. If you find powder or broken strands, the line has been overloaded and should be replaced.
• Check splices.
• Consider replacing fiber rode each year, depending on use.
